India at Inaugural KHO-KHO World cup 2025: Highlights
The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 concluded in New Delhi, India won the men’s and women’s titles by beating Nepal in both the finals at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
This was the inaugural edition of the world Kho-Kho competition, Organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and featured 20 men’s and 19 women’s teams around the globe.
The Indian men’s team was in Group A with Nepal, Peru, Brazil and Bhutan. The women’s team was in Group A with the IR Iran, Malaysia and Republic of Korea. Top two teams from each group qualified for the quarter-finals.
In the men’s division, India defeated Nepal by a 54-36 scoreline in the final while the women’s finished 78-40 in the hosts’ favour.
Flamingo festival celebrated in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Flamingo Festival 2025 has concluded at Nelapattu, Atakanithippa, Sullurupeta, B.V. Palem and Sri City in Tirupati district. Tirupati District Collector and District Tourism Council Chairman Dr. S. Venkateswar unveiled the invitation of the Festival and launched a website of the event. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh inaugurated the three-day event. Event features cultural progs, wildlife awareness initiatives & tourism activities across Pulicat Lake.
India became the 7th largest coffee producer in the world.
India has emerged as the world’s seventh-largest coffee producer, exports reaching $1.29 billion in FY 2023-24, almost double the $719.42 million recorded in 2020-21. India’s coffee exports have grown significantly due to the increasing global demand for its rich and unique flavors. In the first half of January 2025 India exported over 9,300 tonnes of coffee to Italy, Belgium, and Russia. India’s coffee production consists of Arabica and Robusta beans. These are exported as unroasted beans. Brazil is the largest producer of coffee.
Sanjiv Ranjan assume charge of Secretary Genaral of Indian Ocean Rim Association
Ministry of External Affairs announced the appointment of IFS Shri Sanjiv Ranjan as the Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The IORA is an inter-governmental organization formed in 1997 to foster regional economic cooperation, with headquarter in Ebene Mauritius. The IORA has currently constitutes of 23 member nations and comprises 12 dialouge partners.
