L&T launched 2nd MPV INS Utkarsh for Indian Navy.
Larsen & Toubro has successfully launched the 2nd multi-purpose vessel (MPV) for the Indian Navy, named as INS Utkarsh. The launch took place at the Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai. INS Utkarsh measures 107 metres in length and 18.6 metres in width and made by indian technology giant L&T, This also reflect the India’s advancements in indigenous shipbuilding as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission. L&T previously launched the first MPV, INS Samarthak. The MPVs serve multiple roles, including towing ships, launching and recovering various targets, and operating unmanned autonomous vehicles.
CISF is going to expand with new two battalions.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), approved the creation of two new battalions for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), adding over 2,000 personnel. The expansion, along with the recently approved Mahila Battalion, aims to improve response capabilities. These additions will bring the total number of CISF battalions from 13 to 15. Each new battalion will be led by a Senior Commandant level Officer. The new strength will reduce stress on existing personnel.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal lnaugurated National Turmeric board.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the National Turmeric Board (NTB), headquartered in Nizamabad. Palle Ganga Reddy appointed as its first chairperson. Turmeric, known as ‘Golden Spice’, are grown by the farmer from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya. The main objective of NTB is to boost Turmeric cultivation and export target 1billion dollar by 2030. With this initiative PM Mdi has fulfilled one of his loksabha election promise to the farmer.
“Mission Mausam” Inaugurate by PM Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched ‘Mission Mausam’ on the occasion of 150th foundation day celebration of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD/Established in 1875). He also released a postage stamp and a special commemorative coin to mark the occasion. Prime objective of the ‘Mission Mausam’ to make India weather ready and climate smart. The mission will work on enhance the capabilities of India’s weather forecasting, modelling, and dissemination with a budget of Rs 2,000 crore for the first two years.

The Boda Tyohar festival celebrate by Hatti tribes of the Trans-Giri region in Himachal Pradesh. Known locally as Magho ko Tyohar. The festival started on the eve of Posh Dwadashi, first day of festivities is known as Bodhto, following day at the ‘Sanjha Angan. The festivities begin at temples dedicated to ‘Kul Devtas’ like Shirgul Maharaj, Bijat Maharaj, Mahasu Maharaj, and Thari Devi, a tradition that has been followed for centuries.
ISRO creates history by successfully docks SpaDex satellite in space.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully completed the docking process of the SpaDeX satellites SDX01 and DX02. India became the fourth country to achieve this successful space docking after the USA, Russia, and China. The Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission was successfully launched on December 30, 2024 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The PSLV C60 rocket carrying two small satellites, SDX01 (Chaser) and SDX02 (Target), along with 24 other payloads. Importance of Docking technology is in space when multiple rocket launches are aimed at achieving common mission goals.

Indian legendary bowler Jasprit Bumrah won the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s men’s Player of the Month award for December 2024. Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland won the prize in the women’s category. This was the second such award for both players.
Government of India declared areas around Shikari Devi Wildlife Sanctuary as eco sensitive zones.
The Government of India has declared areas around Shikari Devi Wildlife Sanctuary, as eco-sensitive zones (ESZs) located in Mandi district, to reduce the urbanisation impact on the vicinity. The sanctuary spans 29.94 sq km, came into existence in 1962, to conserve wildlife in the region. The ESZ includes 43 villages of the Nachan Forest Division and the Karsog Forest Division. The ESZ was declared under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, to restrict human activities in the designated areas. The designated protected zone is defined from 50 m to 2 km around the sanctuary.
“Pixxel and Digantara” Indian startup launch satellites to monitor the earth and orbiting objects.
Two Indian space start-ups Pixxel and Digantara launch their satellites onboard a SpaceX rocket. The main purpose of those satellite to closely monitor the earth and objects orbiting around it. Pixxel is the first private company in India to own constellation of satellites. Digantara Aerospace launched the world’s first commercial satellite, Space Camera for Object Tracking (SCOT), for surveillance of objects as small as 5 cm orbiting the earth. Pixxel plans to launch three more Firefly satellites over the next two months.
Arjun Erigaisi stuns Carlsen & Caruana with win.
21 year old Indian grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi from Telengana, defeated World No 1 Magnus Carlsen and World No 2 Fabiano Caruana in competition, which is conducted by Chess.com. Arjun finished with 10 points from 11 rounds in this competition. Arjun defeated Magnus Carlsen in round 10, Fabiano Caruana in the 11th and final round. Erigaisi lost his only match to American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura. Earlier Arjun became the second Indian to reach 2800 Elo rating mark, after the legendary Viswanathan Anand.
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) predicts India to became world fourth largest Economy.
Indian economy expected to become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2026, surpassing Japan. Indian GDP to grow 6.8 per cent in the current financial year ending March and 7.7 per cent in FY26. PHDCCI Deputy Secretary General S P Sharma suggested by the chamber to boost consumption through higher disposable income in the Budget, he said, “Rs 15 lakh, that is the middle income.
